1. Be mindful of weather change, check the on the Hong Kong Observatory website or mobile app before your trip.
· During hot summers, wear light coloured clothing and hat, use umbrella, apply sun block, drink sufficient water or electrolytes replenishment drinks, take a rest when needed to prevent heat stroke.
· If there is thunderstorm/lightning, do not touch water bodies, iron fences or other metal installations. Stay away from trees, masts, iron fences, or other highly conducive objects. Seek shelter in buildings whenever possible. Beware of intense gusts.
2. To avoid bitten by mosquitoes and insects, bee sting and snakebite, please:
· Wear light-coloured long-sleeved clothing and trousers.
· Wear shoes that cover entire foot, avoid wearing sandal or open shoes.
· Avoid direct contact with wild animals and their droppings.
· Apply insect repellent.
· Avoid using fragrant cosmetics or skin care products.
· Stay on boardwalk and footpath, and avoid walking through vegetation. Do not touch the vegetation.
· Avoid resting on vegetation, or at humid and dark places.
· If you see a snake, keep calm and stay still. Let the snake run away.
· If there are only one or two bees/hornets/wasps hovering above, ignore them and keep going as usual. If there is a comb blocking the way, circumvent it and proceed. When attacked by a swarm of bees/hornets/wasps, cover your head and neck with outerwear for protection, and evacuate to the direction opposite to the swarm.
3. To enjoy the precious natural assets at Long Valley sustainably, please:
· Stay on boardwalk and footpath, and do not go into the fields.
· Do not disturb or feed wildlife. Offenders may be prosecuted.
· Do not pick or damage plants.
· Do not operate a drone.
· Care for the environment. Please take away litter for proper disposal.
· Keep the air clean and do not smoke.
· Enjoy the tranquillity. Keep your voice down.
· Cherish public facilities for shared uses.
· Please leash your dog.
· Respect others. Please do not disturb farmers and villagers.
4. Arrangement under inclement weather conditions for LVNP activities:
· Scheduled activity will be cancelled if any of the following adverse weather warning signals, including Amber, Red or Black Rainstorm Warning, or Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above, “Extreme Conditions” is in effect within 2 hours before the activity. There will be no re-arrangement of the cancelled activity.
· If any of the following adverse weather warning signals, including the Thunderstorm Warning, Rainstorm Warning (Amber, Red or Black) or Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above is in effect during the activity, scheduled activity will be cancelled.
· Scheduled activity held as usual if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 is in effect within 2 hours before or during the activity. The itinerary will be adjusted depending on the weather conditions.
